Publishing is the process of production and dissemination of literature or information – the activity of making information available for public view. Traditionally, the term refers to the distribution of printed works such as books however with the advent of digital information systems and the Internet, the scope of publishing has expanded to include electronic resources, such as the electronic versions of books and periodicals, as well as websites, blogs, video games and the like.

The publishing department is one of the departments under the college of Arts and Social Sciences. This department develops students in the printing and publication industry. The department was 25 years old this October 2009, In light of the achievements within its 25 years of existence, there is a yearlong programme of celebration which was launched on February 12th 2009 under theme 25 years of Book Publishing Education in Ghana.
